Abstract

This article is largely based on an interview between the authors and John and Pamela Beard. The interview was conducted on 6 September 2000 at the interviewees' home in Perth, Western Australia. It recounts some anecdotal events in the couple's lives, particuarly as they relate to Dr. Beard's work in Trinidad and Tobago and the wider Caribbean, which provided platform for his continuing work elsewhere.
