The State of the Environment

The spectacle of a woman pointing a gun to her head and threatening to kill herself in the defence of the environment made headline news in the print and electronic media. The woman was protesting the quarrying of the hillsides at the heights of Guanapo. Some weeks before this incident, our Club hosted a symposium on "The state of the environment." One of the points raised was that we were preaching to the converted and that it was the politicians, who were not present, that needed to be converted. There is no doubt that this is a correct assessment of the situation.
